BBC interview on rehabilitation of child soldiers and children born of war in Uganda

Last week, Komakech Wilfred, program director at the Children Born of War Project’s partner organization, The Grassroots Reconciliation Group (GRG), was interviewed by the BBC. He shared his harrowing experience of being abducted and conscripted as a child soldier at the age of 10 in Uganda. Additionally, he recounted the inspiring journey of his rehabilitation and how he now dedicates his life to assisting others through his work at GRG.

I want people to know that even in the face of an unimaginable situation, like the hardship I have gone through,  it is possible to rebuild and find purpose and also make a contribution to your community.

Since 2007, the GRG have worked to empower and rehabilitate former child soldiers and children born of war in Uganda by offering psychosocial support, as they risk facing great stigma when returning to their communitites. In 2022/2023 the CBOW Project partially funded these projects (USD 3,834.00).

We congratulate Grassroots Reconciliation Group and Komakech Wilfred on the interview, and thank the BBC for shedding light on their important work.
