We’re still taking in all the insightful discussions and shared stories from the seminar on November 17th — thank you for being part of it!
We are truly grateful for all the thoughtful contributions and reflections throughout the seminar “Children of the Enemy – When the War Doesn’t End.”, that the Children Born of War Project organised together with Women in Global Health Norway.
Understanding how existing knowledge can be applied today in order to inform policies and humanitarian interventions was elaborated in the final panel. The seminar was concluded by CBOW Project chairwoman and managing director Ingvill Constanze Ødegaard who specified the following paths for future work:
⇨ working to increase the knowledge base, engage in awareness building and influence policy development
⇨ working to bridge gaps between academia, civil society/organisations and political actors
⇨ reaching out to children born of war across time and space to ensure the diversity of CBOW voices are heard
⇨ engaging in present conflicts and emergencies by cooperating with frontliners in order to start early mapping and data collection on of CBOW. Data is crucial
→ for monitoring the existence of children born of war in ongoing crisis,
→ for mitigating and monitoring evidence-based responses.
⇉ this requires coordinated data collection, documentation, and sharing procedures.
⇨ ensuring that all work with and on CBOW fulfill the highest ethical standards
