In light of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway’s passing, we in the Children Born of War Project want to acknowledge his strong advocacy for the well-being of children everywhere. King Harald was outspoken in his concern for the welfare and safety of children, youth, and other vulnerable groups. He spoke about the Norwegian Children Born of War (krigsbarn) on several occasions, most recently last year in his official speech regarding the 80th anniversary of Norway’s liberation from the German occupation of WWII.
We hope to honor his legacy by continuing to advocate for the rights and justice of Children Born of War everywhere. In King Harald’s own words: «Barn skal ikke lide under voksne menneskers mangel på omsorgsevne.»
